One of the most beautiful things of Russia: witnessing couples’ intimate moments during the two-three minutes of a subway escalator trip. I remember them since the earliest of my childhood… This was part of an urban every day life, so common, we never thought much of it. Once the USSR collapsed and Western tourists started visiting, I remember them referring to “kissing Russians” as the landmark and another reason to take a subway trip.
So grateful I had a chance to witness this during my early years and form the early patterns of people relating to one another…
